This thesis analyzes the link between the conditions of schooling at the primary level and the learning of the students, an issue with a strong presence on the political and academic agenda in the last decade. It does so by resorting to conceptualizations from two different research traditions: studies on the school device and inquiries about the relationship with knowledge. Thus, it is proposed to analyze the performativity of the school device of the relationship of the student-to with knowledge. To this end, it reconstructs the system of practices that make up said device, describes how this system of practices materializes in two primary-level educational institutions that implement projects to extend the school day and accounts for the standardized conventions and performances that by effect From the device, the intersubjective and intergenerational school plots are generated and configured, as well as the knowledge that the students consider most relevant. It is a qualitative, multiple case study that uses multiple sources and research techniques: documentary analysis of prescriptive texts, non-participant observations and knowledge balances. The thesis concludes that the school device is made up of four great strategies that constitute its hard core from which other secondary ones are derived that appear in the attempt to amend the non-programmed effects and the resistance to its operation. It shows how this system of practices generate three configurations of school performances, that is, three conglomerates of conventions and regular and expected performances of adults and children in school: that of school work, that of school civility and that of generational difference. It also shows how each configuration by privileging certain knowledge, favoring certain cognitive activities, promoting the production of certain ideal identity traits and, by interacting with each other, produce a way of relationship between the student-to and knowledge.Palabras clave – provistas por el repositorio digital
