Discoverer Asks for Time, Patience Over Arsenic Bacteria Controversy

<jats:p> Three weeks ago, NASA astrobiology fellow Felisa Wolfe-Simon published a paper in <jats:italic>Science</jats:italic> about bacteria that can use arsenic instead of phosphorus in DNA and other biomolecules. Then came a torrent of criticism that she and her co-authors declined to respond to.
