Sustainable Chemistry for the Environment

Resumen/Descripción – provisto por la editorial en inglés
Sustainable Chemistry for the Environment (SCENV) is a new peer-reviewed, gold open access (OA) journal and upon acceptance all articles are permanently and freely available. SCENV publishes original papers, short communications and perspectives, and review articles in all areas of green and sustainable chemistry and engineering for a safer and cleaner environment. Contributions on interdisciplinary themes, including social and political sciences, economics, ethics, and others, that aim to support and promote the implementation and acceptance of green chemistry practices in education, research and industry, are also welcome. With a growing population and an increased strain on the planet, innovative research on sustainable chemistry and engineering has become the main pillar of industrial development that respects the environment and life-on-earth, by contributing to any of the UN's Sustainable Development Goals. Sustainable Chemistry for the Environment covering, but not limited to the following general topics: Green solvents - Safe reagents and chemicals - Sustainable organic synthesis Catalytic processes (homogeneous, heterogeneous and bio-catalysis) Biomass derived (Bio-based) platform & fine chemicals, pharmaceuticals, monomers, polymers, materials Alternative fossil fuels and biofuels, green bio-energy, energy storage and conversion Valorization of renewable and natural resources Waste recycle and valorization - Circular economy (food waste, hazardous waste, municipal waste, micro-plastic waste) CO2 utilization Alternative and benign chemical processes (microwaves, ultrasounds, photochemistry, electrochemistry, flow chemistry, etc.) Nano-materials for energy and environmental applications Green analytical chemistry Green chemistry in conservation and restoration of cultural heritage Pollution prevention and remediation Toxicology and Ecotoxicology of Chemicals and Products Computational Chemistry towards greener chemical processes Green chemistry metrics - Life cycle assessment (LCA) Education and societal awareness - UN Sustainable Developments Goals Green Chemistry and entrepreneurship Sustainable and low emissions industrial processes Environment, renewables and circularity are areas of particular interest, with indicative topics including: Environment: Pollution prevention and remediation Contaminants in water, air and on land (pharmaceuticals, pesticides, OPFRs, VOCs, PAHs, PFASs) Waste reduction, use of safer chemicals Wastewater treatment Metrics and artificial intelligent (AI) in environmental chemistry Adsorption/catalysis for environmental remediation Microplastics/nanoplastics, electronic wastes Carbon and Nitrogen cycle Renewables & Circularity Lignocellulosic and lipid biomass (waste) valorization - Biorefining Food waste valorization Bio-based chemicals, fuels, polymers, materials Renewable energy sources (wind, solar) (Micro) plastics recycling/upcycling CO2 capture and utilization Metrics and AI in renewables and circularity Life-cycle assessment and end of life of products
