The Olivia river basin of Tierra del Fuego constitutes the main reserve for the future supply of drinking water in the city of Ushuaia. The growing growth of anthropic activities, motivated the decision to work on a proposal of Guidelines of a management plan for the sustainable development of the basin. The preliminary diagnosis of the basin was carried out based on the analysis of the ecosystems present in it, its functions, services, main threats and conflicts of use. Based on the results of this diagnosis, the objective of this work is to contribute to the planning of the basin, by defining strategies for integrated management, which include the conservation of ecosystems of special importance, linked to regulatory services Hydrological: water courses, peat bogs, glaciers, forests and lagoons. A methodology proposed by IUCN (International Union for the Conservation of Nature) was considered, based on the application of the Ecosystem Approach (EA) to Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM). From the preliminary diagnosis, the existing analysis on the functions and services of ecosystems linked to hydrological regulation, as well as on the conflicts in the basin, was updated and completed. The strategies are defined through strategic objectives and guidelines, specific actions for the rational use and conservation of the different ecosystems of vital importance for the basin, specific aspects such as institutional, socio-environmental and economic.Palabras clave – provistas por el repositorio digital
