Medicinal Plants: Chemistry, Biology and Omics reviews the phytochemistry, chemotaxonomy, molecular biology, and phylogeny of selected medicinal plant tribes and genera, and their relevance to drug efficacy.

Medicinal plants provide a myriad of pharmaceutically active components, which have been commonly used in traditional Chinese medicine and worldwide for thousands of years. Increasing interest in plant-based medicinal resources has led to additional discoveries of many novel compounds, in various angiosperm and gymnosperm species, and investigations on their chemotaxonomy, molecular phylogeny and pharmacology.

Chapters in this book explore the interrelationship within traditional Chinese medicinal plant groups and between Chinese species and species outside of China. Chapters also discuss the incongruence between chemotaxonomy and molecular phylogeny, concluding with chapters on systems biology and “-omics” technologies (genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, and metabolomics), and how they will play an increasingly important role in future pharmaceutical research.

Medium and High Temperature Solar Processes discusses the principles and economic viability of medium- and high-temperature solar processes. This book is organized into seven chapters that focus on the second law of thermodynamics and its use in matching solar collection methods to thermal processes. It also provides general design guidelines for small- and intermediate-scale applications of solar processes.
The opening chapter presents an overview of energy use patterns in the United States and of the various solar-thermal processes considered in the book. The concepts of economics of solar systems and possible environmental impacts are also summarized. Chapter 2 deals with the quantity, geographic availability, and quality of solar radiation, with a particular emphasis on beam or direct radiation since it has the highest thermodynamic availability and is used by most elevated-temperature collectors. This chapter also describes the trigonometry of various solar tracking modes and optical properties of materials. Chapter 3 considers selected topics on thermodynamics and heat transfer, including various heat engine designs and their first and second law efficiencies; radiation heat transfer; and the properties of selective surfaces usable at high temperature. Chapter 4 covers the components and systems for medium-temperature processes, such as concentrating collectors, thermal storage, heat exchangers, and energy transport systems. Chapter 5 treats systems for power production, shaft power, industrial process heat, and total energy. Chapter 6 presents engineering design data for high-temperature collectors and their use in solar furnaces; central solar power plants; distributed power plants; and solar thermionics. The concluding chapter addresses the economics of the foregoing systems with an emphasis on methods and principles of analysis.

Meeting Health Information Needs Outside of Healthcare addresses the challenges and ethical dilemmas concerning the delivery of health information to the general public in a variety of non-clinical settings, both in-person and via information technology, in settings from public and academic libraries to online communities and traditional and social media channels.

Professionals working in a range of fields, including librarianship, computer science and health information technology, journalism, and health communication can be involved in providing consumer health information, or health information targeting laypeople. This volume clearly examines the properties of health information that make it particularly challenging information to provide in diverse settings.

Meeting People via WiFi and Bluetooth will contain an overview of how to track people using Wireless 802.11 Radio Frequencies (Wi-Fi) and Bluetooth 802.15 Radio Frequencies. The content contained here came from research and materials originally presented at Defcon Wireless CTF Village in August 2015 entitled "Meeting People Via Wi-Fi".

The book will go over the hardware and software needed in order to do this tracking, how to use these particular tools in order to do attribution, and tips for protecting yourself from being attributed via those signals.
