The objective of this work is to analyze the theoretical-methodological principles related to the description and accessibility of research data. Hermeneutics and discourse analysis were applied to literature specialized in: research data; access and description of research data; data repositories. Metadata elements for the description of research datasets that are included in the DataCite Metadata Schema were identified and analyzed, in order to create a descriptive profile proposal for research data sets, which can be applied in the data repositories. If the research data is properly described, then its accessibility and reuse will be further promoted. To do this, it is necessary for academic and research institutions to participate in the generation of open access policies for their research data.

The article studies the way in which public libraries communicate their activity to the environment. The objective is to clarify what channels and media are used, what is communicated -content of the communication-, when this communication is carried out and the management of the process. The data protection of the users of the library is partially treated.  A double approach, theoretical and practical, is made to achieve the objectives. The practical one is carried out through a survey of public libraries in the Region of Murcia. It is estimated that the sample is representative of the average reality of these centers in the Spanish environment. The treatment of the results is more qualitative than quantitative. The need to plan communication is concluded. Likewise, libraries should expand the variety of their communication channels and improve this with prescribers and stakeholders.

The editing process that manuscripts went through to become a printed product during the Golden Age is studied. This complex framework in which the interests of the author came into play with those of the printer has left clues in different documentary testimonies. Among these we find the printing contracts, the powers and the obligations, thanks to which we can reconstruct the attitude expressed by the authors before the publication of their works. This article addresses the role played by José de Moret in the edition of his texts in Navarre in the second half of the 17th century, which shows us the control he exercised over the different printers who printed his works.

This paper presents the results of a study aimed at learning the opinions of the administrators of email distribution lists managed by RedIRIS.  The study had three objectives: to determine each administrator's level of satisfaction with the different electronic media they themselves use to get information for their daily work, especially with distribution lists; to determine how their lists have evolved in regard to the number of messages and subscribers; and to determine their level of agreement or disagreement with distribution lists being a means of knowledge sharing and a channel for learning.  The surveyed administrators value the lists as the best application for sharing and disseminating information among professionals and academics.  Although not all lists enjoy the same strength, they are still being used.  And they serve as a tool for knowledge management, and are useful for training and learning.

Remodelling the model

Thomas WilsonORCID

This very short note was originally prepared as a “Viewpoint” for the virtual ISIC conference organized from Pretoria, South Africa in September/October 2020.  The idea of the viewpoints was to allow some well-known figures from the world of information behaviour, to present points of view or ideas on current developments, without the necessity for the formal submission and presentation of papers. Consequently, this short note lacks the structure of a formal paper and is simply some personal notes on my current thinking about information behaviour.

The aim of this research is to show the number of French books owned by the little Murcian nobility during the xviii century. Regarding this fact, we have reviewed the post mortem inventories and other documents protocolized by this elite during the period between 1700 and 1811. The result displays the French prints owned by that social stratum. With this data, we make a cuantitative analisis of this prints and its distribution by subject matters based in their nature. The readers show themselves inclined to incorporate to their collections prints of literary and linguistic content for the learning of the Gallic language, as well as historic and cientific prints, broadly speaking. The results show a percentually poor portrait as a whole, characterised for a concentration of many printed documents for very few readers, along with the late onboarding of French books.

We set out to identify the service portfolio of the University Libraries and their modifications in the face of the complexity caused by the COVID19 pandemic, in order to recognize their different communication and management methodologies within the community of users in isolation contexts, allowing us to evaluate the processes of innovation and change in the event of the pandemic. We carried out a survey of documentary information through the websites of the Libraries and the organizations that make up the Librarian joint, in order to evaluate and compare their responses to the crisis at national level (Argentina), and peers in Latin America. . Then a direct information collection instrument was applied to the set of 326 Libraries belonging to the 131 Argentine Universities. Finally, we arrived at conclusions that allow us to weigh the identity of the University Libraries in Post-COVID19 Higher Education.
