The present work finds its origin in the need to find an alternative that allows to reuse the waste of fluidized bed mineral coal combustion thermoelectric plants. The study is considered from two fronts that are well differentiated but, definitely, complementary. On the one hand, the combustor operation analysis allows to know the characteristics of the waste that it generates. And on the other, the study of the ashes in order to evaluate the feasibility of recycling them, either as a mineral addition to Portland cement, or as an aggregate in concrete. The detailed study of the conditions of operation of the combustor allowed to predict the chemical characteristics of the ashes, as well as to establish the parameters that can be adjusted so that the exit ashes meet the requirements to be used in the elaboration of cements and concretes. The analysis of the feasibility of using the ashes was carried out in a differentiated way for the two types of ash that exit from the combustor, the fly ash and the bottom ash. The results of the characterization of the ashes generated in the laboratory as a reproduction of the ashes produced by the Río Turbio thermoelectric power plant were conclusive to determine that they have pozzolanic properties. Moreover, the results of the evaluations carried out on blended cements incorporating fly ash and on concrete that uses bottom ash, confirmed the feasibility of using the ashes in the preparation of these materials.Palabras clave – provistas por el repositorio digital
