The more important light oleffins (C2 –C5) in petrochemical processes are ethylene, propylene and butenes. These compounds are produced in the industry mainly for thermal cracking of alcanes (ethane, propane, butane), but can be also produced by catalytic dehydrogenation of alcanes. This thesis includes the development of bimetallic and trimetallic catalysts supported on magnesium spinel to be used in the selective dehydrogenation of n-butane to butenes, and follows objectives: 1) Development of different synthesis methods of the magnesium spinel, and characterization of the synthesized materials. 2) Study of the influence of the different synthesized spinels on the catalytic properties of metallic phase of the catalysts employed in butane dehydrogenation. 3) Investigation of the effect of the following metals addition to Pt: first, Sn and Pb, second, In and Ga, on the properties of metallic phase and the catalytic performance in butane dehydrogenation of the different catalysts. 4) Study of the catalytic stability through essays of successive cycles of reaction-regeneration. The modifications of catalytic properties along the cycles of the different catalytic formulations essayed were observed. The characterization of the different supports and catalysts were carried out by different techniques: XRD, TGA, chemical analysis, BET isotherm, hydrogen chemisorption, SEM, acidity analysis, TPR, TEM, XPS and test reactions of metallic phase. Also, the catalysts were essayed in the n-butane dehydrogenation, both in flow and pulse equipments.Palabras clave – provistas por el repositorio digital
