Resumen/Descripción – provisto por el repositorio digital
The main objective of this thesis consists in the theoretical development and implementation of a set of computational tools allowing to obtain improved numerical solutions for elliptic partial differential equations without incrementing considerably the computational cost. The development is based on codes which validate the technique of Composite Mesh with the objective of generalize it through an algebraic version called Algebraic Composite Mesh. Below are listed the main contributions of this thesis: The computational analysis of the Composite Mesh technique for elliptic problems and its the generalization for unstructured meshes and three dimensional domains. The study of the applicability of the technique to problems in complex domains, steady problems of diffusion-advection-reaction type, problems with variable coefficients and other applications. A proposal for the integration of the Multigrid method with the Composite Mesh strategy with the objective to obtain a new technique. The presentation of a new technique called Algebraic Composite Mesh.
